Account books, 1792, 1799-1801, 1834.

Consists of four volumes. The first three pertain to Jenks' blacksmithing activities. Two volumes are account books covering the year 1792, while the third is a daybook kept from 1799 to 1801. In these volumes, Jenks recorded such activities as repairing guns and pistols, days of work, engraving, working on bellow pipes, mending crowbars and tongs, and making latch handles, bolts, rings, staples, and hooks. Many of the entries contain references to cutting brands and the name of the brand is written in block letters, presumably as it would appear. Also noted in the volumes are purchases of ribbon, a jacket, shoes, nails, and plain iron. The fourth volume was compiled by Alonzo Lewis in 1834. It offers information about early Jenks family members as transcribed from original records of Essex County, Ma. Entries primarily concern land purchases and other legal matters of Joseph, Joseph, Jr., and Samuel Jenks, all blacksmiths.
